Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) includes laparoscopic surgery (also referred to as keyhole surgery) and robotic surgery. Its main advantages are smaller incisions, less pain and quicker recovery compared to conventional open surgery. Robotic surgery is a specialized form of laparoscopic surgery.
Laparoscopic and robotic surgery is an exciting development in the field of Urology and few hospitals in South Africa offer these procedures for urological diseases such as prostate cancer and kidney cancer.
As a Urologist, Dr Naude is able to assist patients with other conditions of the urinary tract system, as well as male reproductive organs. These include, but are not limited to, the kidneys, ureters, adrenal glands, bladder, urethra, testes and prostate.
He attended the University of Pretoria, where he received his medical degree in 1994 before moving on to complete his Surgical Fellowship, specializing in Urology, in 2002. in 2006 he opened his independent, specialist practice in Panorama.
Dr Naude also has a keen interest in Prostate Cancer and is listed as a prostate cancer professional by the Prostate cancer Foundation of South Africa.
